2020 Election Mail-in Ballots
I have always been proud to be a Postal Worker but during this presidential election I have been the proudest and I hope you have too. Job well done everyone! When the spotlight was placed on us, when the current President called us a “joke”, when the Postmaster General DeJoy attempted to sabotage the Postal Service by removing equipment, we still processed and delivered those ballots. Once again, we showed the public we work to service them.
Our national president, Mark Dimondstein and the executive officers did a phenomenal job ensuring that the Postal Service at the headquarters level laid out and followed the standard operating procedures for processing election mail and ensured and enforced employee awareness. President Dimondstein established an Election Task Force Team with the locals. A special thank you to our local team which included Malcolm Bratcher, Mona Lisa Coleto, Dorothy Noval and myself. Seven days leading up to the election Acting Plant Manager Kim Floyd and myself met either in person or by phone daily to discuss the plans, any issues or problems the plant was having with processing the ballots. Thank you to those who understood the need for the overtime in order to ensure our customers that their ballots would be processed in a timely manner.

I look forward to working with you all. We have a lot of work to do and the struggle continues with the new PMG DeJoy.
It was so hard for me to say goodbye to Karen Jester-Witkowski, my former Vice-President. Karen decided to enter a new chapter of life, retirement. Karen brought so much experience, knowledge and dedication to this local as she served as Director of Industrial Relations, Clerk Craft Director and Vice-President. Thank you, sister Karen, for a job well done!
Malcolm Bratcher, our Legislative Director, served this local with pride and dignity. Malcolm organized our rallies, our participation in the Labor Day Parades and built a strong relationship with our congressional representatives. When we call our representatives, they know us by name, thanks Malcolm. Additionally, even though Malcolm was a maintenance shop steward he held it down on the workroom floor for the tour 3 clerks as well. Thank you, Malcolm, for a job well done!
Robert Kinsley, our Motor Vehicle Director for at least 12 years fought to increase the craft and dedicated his time to his craft and this local. We are so thankful for the years, experience and dedication Bob brought to our local. Thank you, Bob, for a job well done!
Overtime Exemption Period
The December exemption period (during which penalty overtime regulations are not applicable) consists of 4 consecutive service weeks.
This year, the period begins Pay Period 25-20, Week 2 (November 28, 2020) and ends Pay Period 01-21, Week 1 (December 25, 2020). Please be mindful as we enter the Christmas Season employees not on the overtime desired list may be required to work overtime as well. However, the pecking order for overtime still is in place during this time.
A Reflection of 2020
As we enter the holiday season, we have so much to be thankful for. Even though the year 2020 presented itself with many challenges for us all, especially with the pandemic. We still have so much to be thankful and grateful for. However, you decide to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas please remember this holiday celebration must be different. Protect your family and friends by changing the way we celebrate. Celebrate to save lives. Every day is a gift of life that we should never take for granted. Live, laugh and love to the fullest. If there is one thing 2020 has reminded us of, it is that life is a precious gift.
Sisters and Brothers please continue to stay safe.
AND KNOW THIS:
It has been proven that the wearing of masks protects all of us!
Frequent washing of hands, protects all of us!
Social distancing, protects all of us!
PLEASE CONTINUE TO PROTECT ALL OF US!
In Solidarity,
Trina Wynn
